Description
From Doenrade in Limburg you can make a nice bike ride through the hills around Brunssum. You drive over the Brunssumerheide and through the Schinveldse Bossen.
Brunssummerheide
In this rolling landscape you will find a mosaic of grassy fields and fields. Occasionally you pass a characteristic old farmhouse. After a while you cycle onto the Brunssummerheide, the only large heathland in South Limburg. Here you have beautiful views of heathland and forests. When you hear the'cowbells\\\' ringing, the shepherd with his flock of sheep is nearby. A nice sight!
Germany
You drive through the Schutterspark, a varied city park that is intersected by the Roode Beek. Across the border you drive through the Schinveldse Bossen. You cross into Germany for a while, after which the cycle path is right on the border again. On the right is the valley of the Roode Beek, on the left the marshland of the Leiffender Ven. Watch out for the border markers! You then drive through some picturesque hamlets, such as Bingelrade. What a charming region!
