Description
This route is a beautiful round to Kasteel Het Nijenhuis, one of the best preserved manors in Overijssel. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful landscape and was first mentioned in 1382. After having served as a residence for centuries, the castle was sold in 1934, after which a period of decline began. The castle was then completely restored and Museum de Fundatie was built in it. The house is fully accessible to the public. Kasteel Peckedam is located at the beginning of the driveway to Kasteel Het Nijenhuis. The original castle, which stood here in the twelfth century, was demolished in 1826. It made way for a new, stately villa that was built in 1898.
