Description
This route is a nice round trip to Het Nijenhuis Castle, one of the best preserved manor houses in Overijssel. The castle is surrounded by beautiful scenery and was first mentioned in 1382. After serving as a home for centuries, the castle was sold in 1934, after which a period of decline began. The castle was then completely restored and Museum de Fundatie was built in it. The house is fully accessible to the public. Peckedam Castle is located at the beginning of the driveway to Nijenhuis Castle. The original castle, which stood here in the twelfth century, was demolished in 1826. It made way for a new, stately villa that was built in 1898. Stop off at Cafetaria & Lunchroom Uit de Kunst along the way!
