Cycling from Echt to Montfort and Susteren

Soon after the start you can take a break at 't Sjpaorhutje. Between Echt and Susteren you will find the beautiful De Doort Nature Reserve. The name is derived from the word 'Dorenbosch', a forest area with many thorny shrubs. This area consists of forests, extensive meadows, swamps and ponds, created by former clay extraction. Here you will find the largest tree frog population in the Netherlands, they like to sit on brambles in a sunny spot. On this route you cycle further through the fairytale Nieuw Annendaalsbos. This forest consists of coniferous and deciduous trees in which woodlarks and yellowhammers hatch their young. Here and there you see a skittish deer sprinting away between the trees and the wild boars leave their tracks in the area when they are looking for food.
