Description

You soon cross the beautifully winding Linge to Landgoed Mariënwaerdt. This private estate of over 900 hectares contains no less than 40 national monuments, such as 14 homesteads, haystacks and flood barns. Via the cozy Geldermalsen you cycle through some old villages where you can admire monumental farms and churches, Kapel-Avezaath. Landgoed Neerijnen has a history that goes back to the fourteenth century. The current country house was built around 1600. You continue cycling via the Waalbandijk. The water you drive past here is called De Kil: it is an old river course that is lined with willow pilot whales. In Waardenburg you pass the idyllic surroundings of Kasteel Waardenburg. The current castle dates from the seventeenth century, the thatched corn mill from 1780.
