Cycling through the Famenne around Rochefort

The starting point of this route is at Lavaux-Sainte-Anne. From here you will set sail for Rochefort, where you can take a look at the Gallo-Roman villa of Malagne where you can see what life was like 2000 years ago. You can also visit the Notre Dame de la Visitation, the Cave of Lorette-Rochefort and the ruins of the Counts Castle from the 11th and 14th centuries. The famous Abbey of Rochefort, in full the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Saint-Remy, is located just a few kilometers from the center of the town of Rochefort. Almost nothing remains of the original buildings. The current gatehouse is the oldest remaining building.

Trappist beer Rochefort
There was once a famous marble quarry near the abbey, which was exploited by the monks during the Ancien Régime. Due to the many digging in the hill, the river Tridaine originated one day. According to experts, Trappist beer Rochefort gets its unique taste from the river water of the Tridaine that is used for it.
