City walk Roosendaal to Visdonk

This route starts at Roosendaal station. In the Middle Ages a lively peat trade developed here. Peat was exported via the Roosendaal port to Holland, Zeeland, Flanders and Antwerp. At that time, the Vliet was still in open connection with the North Sea, so the Roosendaal skippers even sailed to England and France. Then you walk out of the city. Further on you walk across the Visdonk Estate, where you will find a varied landscape. The Visdonk Estate already existed in the seventeenth century. Here you see old avenues, forest and heathland. In summer, many bell gentians grow around the Rozenven. A beautiful place to enjoy the silence.
