City walk Roosendaal to Visdonk

This route starts at the station of Roosendaal. In the Middle Ages, a lively peat trade developed here. Peat was exported to Holland, Zeeland, Flanders and Antwerp via the port of Roosendaal. At that time, the Vliet was still in open connection with the North Sea, so the skippers from Roosendaal even sailed to England and France. Then you walk out of the city. Further on you walk over the Visdonk Estate, where you will find a varied landscape. The Visdonk Estate already existed in the seventeenth century. Here you will see old lanes, forest and heathland. In the summer, many gentians grow around the Rozenven. A beautiful place to enjoy the silence for a while.
