Centuries-old buildings

In Graven you can take a look at the castle of Piétrebais, a building with parts dating from the tenth century. The nature in this area is also definitely worth seeing. The Meerdaalwoud, together with the Heverleebos and the Egenhovenbos, forms the largest mixed deciduous forest in Flanders and you will also find the oldest deer population in Flanders there. Especially around dusk you have a good chance of catching a glimpse of these graceful creatures.
Varied landscapes
In addition to the lush forests, you will find dry heathlands, pine forests and all kinds of other plants in this nature reserve. Nowhere else in Flanders will you find so many old oak trees with a large circumference. A wonderful region for a bike ride.
