Description

Take a trip through the beautiful varied landscape just below Leuven and enjoy the peace and space you find here. In addition to beautiful nature reserves, you will find numerous sights here, such as centuries-old castles and churches. In short, there is plenty to see on this route.

Centuries-old buildings
During this bike tour you can admire the church of Biez, among other things. This church is beautifully situated on a rocky hill close to the place where the rivers Train and Hèze meet. In Graven you can take a look at the castle of Piétrebais, a building with parts dating from the tenth century. The nature in this area is also definitely worth seeing. The Meerdaalwoud, together with the Heverleebos and the Egenhovenbos, forms the largest mixed deciduous forest in Flanders and you will also find the oldest deer population in Flanders there. Especially around dusk you have a good chance of catching a glimpse of these graceful creatures.

Varied landscapes
In addition to the lush forests, you will find dry heathlands, pine forests and all kinds of other plants in this nature reserve. Nowhere else in Flanders will you find so many old oak trees with a large circumference. A wonderful region for a bike ride.
