Gestelhof
The day starts off well: soon after you get on the bus, you will pass the beautiful Gestelhof castle from the 14th century. Even Philip II, King of Spain, briefly owned the domain in the sixteenth century. After years of decline, the castle was restored to its former glory at the end of the 17th and 19th centuries. The Gestelhof is surrounded by a pond and located in the middle of a park, a long avenue leads to a beautiful gatehouse.
Big Nete
You will also cycle through the valley of the Grote Nete, a beautiful meandering river with its wet meadows and forests. Via the Netekanaal and the beautiful Kleine Nete you will find your way to a beautiful spot to break your cycling day:'t Schipke aan de Nete, with a nice terrace to have a bite to eat before you continue. You drive back to your starting point over the stately forest lanes of the Merodese Forests.
