Enjoy cycling along the water of the Nete valley

Fancy a day of cycling along the water? The valleys around the Grote and Kleine Nete are beautiful. You can fully enjoy nature and you will also come across a beautiful castle along the way. A nice terrace on the water completes your day out.

Gestelhof
The day gets off to a good start right away: soon after you get on, you pass the beautiful Gestelhof castle from the 14th century. Even Philip II, King of Spain, owned the domain for a while in the sixteenth century. After years of decay, the castle was restored in the late 17th and 19th centuries. The Gestelhof is surrounded by a pond and is located in the middle of a park, a long avenue leads to a beautiful gatehouse.

You will also cycle through the valley of the Grote Nete, a beautiful meandering river with its wet hay meadows and forests. Via the Nete Canal and the beautiful Kleine Nete you will find your way to a beautiful spot to interrupt your cycling day:'t Schipke aan de Nete, with a nice terrace to have a bite to eat before you continue. You drive back to your starting point over the stately forest roads of the Merodese Bossen.
