Scheldt
From the banks of the Scheldt you cycle into the hills. You drive on low-traffic roads through a mosaic of hillside forests, fields and vast grasslands that are intersected by rows of pollard willows. You regularly see a road cross, chapel or beautiful old farm. Sometimes it is a bit of a climb, but the beautiful views make the effort more than worth it!
Abbey
In Nokere you can grab a cozy terrace at Het Landhuys. The menu features tasty regional dishes that will help you regain your strength. After getting back on your bike, you will soon pass an estate where the seventeenth-century Kruishoutem castle is located. Further on is the castle of Wannegem-Lede. Just past Petegem-aan-de-Schelde you pass the former Abbey of Beaulieu.
