Walking route Tilburg, Leypark, Koningshoeven and Galgeven

From the starting point in the nice Dwaalgebied of Tilburg you walk to the Leijpark. It was designed by the famous garden architect Leonard Springer and is named after the river Leij, which flows along it. Via the beautiful street Koningshoeven with its historic houses you walk to the Abdij Koningshoeven, a Trappist monastery that was founded in 1881. You can stock up on something tasty in the abbey shop: an abbey beer for example! Het Galgeven is with 16 hectares one of the largest fens in the Oisterwijk fen area. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Tilburg textile manufacturers acquired ownership of it. The fen was then used to wash wool. You walk back along the leafy banks of the Wilhelminakanaal.
