Description

From the starting point in the nice Dwaal area of Tilburg you walk to the Leijpark. It was designed by the famous landscape architect Leonard Springer and is named after the river Leij, which flows past it. Via the beautiful Koningshoeven street with its historic houses you walk to Koningshoeven Abbey, a Trappist monastery that was founded in 1881. You can stock up on something tasty in the abbey shop: an abbey beer for example! With 16 hectares, Galgeven is one of the largest fens in the Oisterwijk fen area. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Tilburg textile manufacturers acquired ownership of it. The fen was then used to wash wool. You walk back along the leafy banks of the Wilhelmina Canal. Take a look inside the RC Sint Joseph aan de Heuvel!
