Tour of Doesburg, Laag-Keppel and Doetinchem

Your route starts at Stadshotel Doesburg & Restaurant De Kade. Northwest of Doetinchem you will find a very cool and rare forest area with river dunes and fens: the Kruisbergse forests. Very special also because of the differences in height. A large part of the Kruisbergse forests belongs to the medieval Landgoed Hagen. Take a look at the Follega Mill and the watermill of Laag-Keppel! In Laag-Keppel you will also see Keppel Castle. The impressive building stands on an island between two branches of the Oude IJssel. The current building was built from 1612 on the foundations of the medieval castle. In the middle of the eighteenth century the complex was further expanded at the back. The castle has never been sold, the owners who live there are descendants of the first builder.
