A wonderful trip through Drenthe

In Boswachterij Gieten-Borger you can cycle for miles. The deeper you cycle into the forest, the quieter it becomes. A little later you cycle a bit through the best preserved stream and esdorp landscape of Western Europe. East of Gasselte you cycle for a while through the vast landscape of the former Drenthe peat area. A little further on you cycle through the small Schreiersbos: the trees protect the residential area behind it from the peat colony sandstorms in the spring. On the Hunze near Gasselternijveen you pass De Juffer, a corn mill from 1841 that used to be in a different place in the village. At Restaurant de Wiemel you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, lunch and dinner.
