Description
In the area around Roden you will find marshes and dry sandy plains, but also green stream valleys, vast forests, beautiful estates and fens. Camping Ronostrand is the base for this route. The first part of the route takes you to Roden, a beautiful historic village. Originally, this was an old Drenthe brink village. From Roden you cycle on to the Groningen village of Leek and the Leekstermeer. This lake forms the centre of the Leekstermeer area, a Natura 2000 area. Then you cycle along the edge of Roden to Steenbergen. The village is named after the nearby dolmen D01: a 'mountain of stones'. Then you cycle back to the starting point of the route.
