Rich history along border river
This smooth cycle route, with few height differences, runs parallel to the rivers Oder and Neisse, along the border with Poland. The ride starts in Hartau, near the border triangle of Germany-Poland-Czech Republic. The first town on the route is the old trading and weaving town of Zittau. One of the most famous sights in Zittau is the huge Biblical tapestry from 1472.
At the end of WWII, the Allies established new national borders. Thus the border with Poland was drawn along the Oder and the Neisse. As a result, Görlitz, with districts on both river banks, fell apart. With 3,500 listed buildings, Görlitz is one of the most beautiful places in Saxony. The old streets are like a time travel. They are regularly the setting for international film productions and the city owes the nickname'Görliwood\\\' to it. You can take a city walk in the center along all the famous film locations.
End point is Saxony is Bad Muskau. Here you will find the romantic Fürst-Pückler-Park, whose gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Oder-Neisse cycle route starts at its source in Nova Vef (Czech Republic) and ends in the Baltic Sea. In Saxony, the route consists largely of asphalted paths, which are car-free.
