Cycling through the Appelbergen

Explore the north of the Netherlands with this fun bike ride along the water, through beautiful nature reserves and along charming villages and towns. The starting point of this route is Pannenkoekhuis Paviljoen Appelbergen. Pick a terrace here: go for coffee and cake, a pancake or something else tasty. Then you can start the bike ride in good spirits. You cycle through the nature reserve de Appelbergen, named after pine cones, but over the years the emphasis of that word shifted to'Appèlbergen\\\'. When you cycle through this area you can enjoy mysterious marshes, romantic fens, a sand drift and a lush forest. A little further on you cycle along the Zuidlaardermeer, a nature reserve with the surrounding polders. Between the towns of Midlaren and De Groeve you pass the De Boezemvriend mill.
