The original castle was used during the siege of Breda, among other things. Due to its favorable location on the Mark, this redoubt served as a fortification until 1952! At junction 22 is De Kleine Schans, a fortification that also dates from the Eighty Years' War.
In Wagenberg you drive past the St. Gummarus Church from 1904, you can also see some beautiful old farms here. In Made you pass the Hoop Doet Leven, a flour mill from 1867. Nearby is a former church in the style of the Amsterdam School. In the countryside you can enjoy a varied and peaceful landscape of stream valleys and arable and grasslands.
