Naturstien Horsens-Silkeborg
Horsens-Silkeborg Nature Trail, Bryrupbanestien, used to be an old railway line that ran between the towns of Horsens and Silkeborg. Today, this old railway line has been closed, paved and renamed into a beautiful cycling and walking route. The approximately 61 kilometer long, flat route takes you past the hills at Brædstrup and the beautiful Lake Highlands at Silkeborg. The route starts in Horsens, where you can visit the largest prison museum in Europe before departure. Along the way you pass many small former station towns where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal and the authentic atmosphere.
About halfway along the route you will pass one of Denmark's main attractions, The'Rediscovered Bridge\\\'. This railway bridge, once the largest in Denmark, crosses the Gudenå River. However, when the railway line closed, the bridge overgrown and was thus hidden from view. In recent years, however, the bridge has been rediscovered and excavated and is now an exceptionally well-preserved symbol of contemporary art in beautiful nature. A small piece of the old railway line, about 5 kilometers, has been preserved. Here an old train runs between the villages Bryrup and Vrads. During a beautiful ride with the small locomotive, you imagine yourself in another time. At the end of the ride you will find restaurant Vrads in the old station building.
Along the way you will come across various accommodations - also outside. There are well-maintained nature shelters that can be used by anyone who needs a break.
