In the Bulb Region you cycle through a palette of colors. You will also find special nature reserves, historic places and of course the Keukenhof.

Keukenhof Castle
The route starts at Lake Como, as the Oosterduinse Meer recreation area is called by the locals. You drive to the Keukenhof where you enjoy the flowers and their story. Keukenhof Castle was built in 1640 as a private residence by order of a commander of the Dutch East India Company. It is now a museum.

Dutch Dune
You drive through the polder to the Park Landgoed Huys in Warmont. The left tower is a remnant of a medieval keep. Further on you pass the Hoop Doet Leven. This mill from 1783 originally stood in Rijnsburg, but has been at its current location since 1999. Finally, you drive a bit through Hollands Duin. In this beautiful nature reserve you will find sheltered forests, open dune plains and deer. What immediately stands out here: the silence!

Before you walk back into Lisse you will pass Keukenhof Castle. This castle was built in 1642 as a country house for a former commander of the VOC. In the 19th century, the castle was expanded and provided with two corner towers. The Keukenhof flower exhibition of the same name is held on part of the estate.

The estate around Huys te Warmont is perfect for a nice stroll. Wander around here and be enchanted by all the natural beauty that can be found here around the Huys te Warmont country house. This estate is not that big, but there is plenty to see. In all seasons you can enjoy centuries-old yew trees, swamp cypresses, beautiful historic oak avenues, grasslands and much more beautiful things. A castle moat has been built around the mansion, which disappears into the forest and flows into the Droomvijver. Take a look at this pond and unwind as you gaze over the water. In the middle of the estate you will find Huys te Warmont, which was built on foundations from the 12th or 13th century. At the beginning of the Eighty Years' War, the manor was destroyed, but later it was rebuilt. Over the centuries, the manor has been in the hands of several noble families.

Molen Hoop Doet Leven is a polder mill that was originally built in Rijnsburg in 1783. The mill was moved in 1999 to its current location in the Elsgeest polder.
