Cycling through South Limburg is an experience in itself. Stream valleys, tranquil forests, idyllic vistas, and small church villages with centuries-old half-timbered houses: they make your bike ride through South Limburg a treat. The views are always beautiful, whether you're cycling through the Geuldal Valley or looking around from a hilltop. In hamlets like Bommerig, Camerig, and Eperheide, you'll see monumental half-timbered houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Mheer was once named one of the ten most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. And for good reason. You'll see, for example, the seventeenth-century St. Lambertus Church. Behind it stands the fourteenth-century Mheer Castle. Noorbeek and Wesch are protected villages, partly because of the Brigidabron (Brigida Well) and the centuries-old St. Brigida Church, which is largely built of marlstone.
