Gently undulating plateaus and stream valleys. Lovely streams babble and determine the different parts of the plateaus. On the tops of the hills a beautiful panorama is drawn up before you, while in the lowlands you can wander wonderfully. In addition to beautiful surroundings, South Limburg has more than enough for the history lover, because the region is full of cultural history. For example, there are several beautiful historic castles to be found in the area, centuries-old water mills have been well preserved and due to the proximity of Maastricht, Valkenburg and the Drielandenpunt, the region attracts many tourists. You can visit one of those beautiful castles during this bike ride, because the route passes by it. Get off your bike in Libeek. Until 2011, Libeek, or Liebik as the Limburgers call it, was part of Margraten. The place was founded in the thirteenth century and in the village is the Libeek farm, the oldest parts of which also date from the thirteenth century. Once upon a time, a knightly house stood on this site, but after the castle changed owners in the sixteenth century, the fortress was gradually converted into a leasehold farm. Libeek has the largest farm in Limburg, which is built around a square courtyard, and the house, which is built of marlstone, was built and improved in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
