A tour around the Engbertsdijksvenen

Just before Geesteren you will pass the Grote Geesterse Molen, a corn mill from 1867. The Engbertsdijksvenen is an extensive peat area with heathland, forests and fens. It is a remnant of the large peat bog that once covered the north-east of the Netherlands. Feel free to get off your bike to admire the natural beauty at your leisure. Cycling is wonderful in the old Twente cultural landscape of rolling fields, woods and fields bordered by hedgerows. The slower you cycle, the longer you can enjoy the refreshing Twente peace. In the Dal van de Mosbeek, the natural beauty is still cherished with care. And rightly so, because the area looks like a fairytale. You will regularly see a characteristic Saxon farm and half-timbered barn.
