Description

Heiloo is a great base for a beautiful walk. You will find plenty of nature and culture here. To start in the Heilooërbos. This nature reserve is now located some distance from the coast, but largely consists of an ancient beach wall! According to tradition, the Pulpit is a place where people worshiped old gods. Further afield is the Nijenburg Estate with its beautiful beech avenues. A little later you will pass another wooded estate: Ter Coulster. A castle stood here from 1404 to 1788. After junction 77 you walk across the grounds of the former Ypestein castle. Here you see some buildings of the Willibrordus Foundation, such as a chapel. The last sight on your route is the White Church: it dates from the eleventh century.
