Description

Heiloo is a great base for a beautiful walk. You will find plenty of nature and culture here. To start with in the Heilooërbos. This nature reserve is now located some distance from the coast, but consists largely of an ancient beach barrier! According to tradition, the Pulpit is a place where ancient gods were worshiped. Further on is Landgoed Nijenburg with its beautiful beech avenues. A little later you come across a wooded estate: Ter Coulster. A castle stood here from 1404 to 1788. After junction 77 you cross the grounds of the former castle Ypestein. Here you can see some buildings of the Willibrordus Foundation, such as a chapel. The last sight on your route is the White Church: it dates from the eleventh century.
