Drimmelen, North Brabant, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 122304
Provided by: Groots Genieten
You cycle via the beautiful old Raamsdonksveer and 's-Gravenmoer with all its waters to the extensive forest area Boswachterij Dorst. It consists mainly of Scots pine trees that were planted in the early nineteenth century. Remnants of heather and deciduous forests can be seen in the area. There are also a number of clay pits created by a former brick factory. Many trees were cut down in the mid-nineteenth century because the area was used as a military training ground. This caused many sand drifts. Exmoor ponies and Scottish Highlanders now graze on the heathland and naturally maintain the vegetation. You cycle back via the Vrachelse Heide.
