Wageningen, Gelderland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 122272
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This route takes you along the banks of the Nederrijn below Rhenen, through the southeastern part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. The sand ridge consists of several peaks, each with its own name. Some of them are higher than fifty meters and on a total surface of approximately 23,000 hectares, thousands of trees sway in the wind. This makes the Utrechtse Heuvelrug the largest forest area in the Netherlands after the Veluwe. Explore one of the oldest forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug (the Remmersteinsche Bos). Lush undergrowth of bracken and blueberry attract attention. Deer, pine martens, birds, badgers, foxes, rabbits, hedgehogs, mice and other animals feel right at home here.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
