The varied nature reserve National Park De Alde Faenen has much to offer nature lovers: lakes, waterways, ponds, roughs, reed lands, swamp forests, fens, grasslands, thickets and peat holes. Together they form a low peat bog of almost 4000 hectares, where thousands of animals live. Your route starts in Leeuwarden and takes you to the nice Grou, for a stop at Paviljoen PrikMar. Then you dive into the national park with its many ferries. Warga. Here you pass the Ald Slot from 1780, also called Roorda State. The building is set up as a museum, you can admire period rooms that are decorated in the atmosphere of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. You will also see two nineteenth-century churches in Warga right after each other.
