Tour of Alde Feanen and Grou from Leeuwarden

The varied nature reserve National Park De Alde Faenen has a lot to offer nature lovers: lakes, canals, ponds, brushwood, reed lands, swamp forests, fens, grasslands, thickets and peat holes. Together they form a low peat bog of almost 4000 hectares, where thousands of animals live. Your route starts at Profile Rein Faber in Leeuwarden and takes you to the nice Grou, for a stopover at Paviljoen PrikMar. Then you dive into the national park with its many ferries. Warga. Here you will pass the Ald Slot from 1780, also known as Roorda State. The building is set up as a museum, where you can admire period rooms decorated in the atmosphere of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. You can also see two nineteenth-century churches in Warga in quick succession.
