Tour Havelte and Uffelte from Wapse

This cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at Hotel Restaurant De Wapser Herberg. First you cycle through the woods of the Holtingerveld. Here and there, craters in the ground bear witness to a bombing of a German airfield that was located here during the Second World War. Then you will become acquainted with the beautiful primeval nature around the Drenthe villages of Havelte and Uffelte. The big eye-catcher in the area is the Havelterberg, a hill of 19 meters high that was pushed up by glaciers about 150,000 years ago during the penultimate ice age, the Saalien. Via Ruinerwold you drive to the Wold Aa, which you follow for a long way. A little further on you pick up the Oude Vaart. You drive back to your starting point past Oldengaerde Castle and the small Oldendiever.
