Description

This cycle route starts at Hotel Restaurant De Wapser Herberg. After a cup of coffee you get on your bike for a trip through one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands: the Drents-Friese Wold. Then you cycle on to another beautiful nature reserve: the Dwingelderveld National Park, where you can also enjoy heathland and forest. In Dwingeloo you cycle on the leafy Brink. Time seems to have stood still a bit here. Here you will see some beautiful old buildings and the fifteenth-century Sint-Nicolaaskerk with its striking onion-shaped spire! You cycle back through Diever, another village worth seeing. At the Brink you can see some characteristic monumental Saxon farms. The former Schultehuis dates back to 1604. The St. Pancratius Church is also located here. This building originally dates from the twelfth century.
