From Diever through the Drents-Friese Wold

At Landhotel & Restaurant Diever you can first enjoy a coffee with homemade apple pie on the terrace, before you drive into the Drents-Friese Wold. First you drive through Boswachterij Smilde, the Drenthe sub-area of this national park. Deciduous and coniferous trees alternate. Occasionally you have vistas over grasslands and arable lands. You drive back into the woods, after a while you cross the Aekingerzand: a vast heathland. How wonderfully quiet it is here! From Zorgvlied you drive through Landgoed Boschoord. This area has been cultivated by the Society of Benevolence. The soil turned out to be unsuitable for agriculture, so it was decided to plant forest there. In Diever you will pass the former Schultehuis from 1604 on the Brink. A little further on is the beautiful old St. Pancratius Church.
