From Diever through the Drents-Friese Wold

At Landhotel & Restaurant Diever you can first enjoy a coffee with homemade apple pie on the terrace, before you drive into the Drents-Friese Wold. First you drive through Boswachterij Smilde, the Drenthe sub-area of this national park. Deciduous and coniferous trees alternate. Every now and then you have views over grasslands and fields. You drive back into the forests, after a while you come across the Aekingerzand: an extensive heathland. How wonderfully quiet it is here! From Zorgvlied you drive through Landgoed Boschoord. This area was developed by the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid. The soil turned out to be unsuitable for agriculture, so they decided to plant forest there. In Diever you arrive at the Brink along the former Schultehuis from 1604. A little further on is the beautiful old Sint-Pancratius church.
