Bruges is the capital and largest city of West Flanders, but the attractive city still feels small-scale. Cute houses, historic streets and lovely squares are waiting to be discovered. Of the 117,000 inhabitants, only 20,000 live in the center. Canals have connected the city to the sea for centuries and have brought it much prosperity. Wherever you go in Bruges, you will be enchanted by the veins of the city again and again. Take the Rozenhoedkaai for example, which radiates real class as one of Bruges' many timeless decors. The medieval atmosphere covers 430 hectares of the center. It is rare in Europe that this medieval city center is included in its entirety on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Bruges urban castle park domain Beisbroek is an ideal starting point to explore the region around Bruges via the junctions. The green lungs of Bruges consist mainly of beech and coniferous forests. Heather occurs in various places, including the very rare red heather. From junction 99 you dive into the green again. The Tillegem Provincial Domain has something for every outdoor enthusiast. Deciduous and coniferous forests, grazing, hay and recreational meadows, a historic castle, a castle farm, a beautiful chapel, a rural inn... in short, the Tillegembos provincial domain offers something for everyone.

The castle of Tillegem is a beautiful building in the Tillegembos. At the beginning of the thirteenth century, this estate is part of the properties of the house of Voormezele. From then on, the estate has passed from hand to hand through sale and inheritance. The castle has been in the hands of the provincial government of West Flanders since 1980.
