The Landgoedroute starts at the Infopunt VVV, in grand café De Havenkom. For those who need something for the bicycle, you can go to the bicycle shop further on: between the residential towers and then down. You will find the shop on the right hand side. From the start you will first encounter the lock. With a drop of many meters, the difference between the water levels on the Gooimeer and the waters in Almere is clearly visible. Via the cemetery we set course towards the Meenten and via the riding school we drive onto the dike. From here you can get a nice overview of the residential area Overgooi. The residents have built special homes on large plots (the Houtroute passes through this area). Towards the Stichtse Brug - one of the two bridges that connects Almere with the old land - we pass the future building plots of Overgooi and this route turns left, on the way to the Cirkelbos. This is one of the oldest forests in Almere. Then we cross the Waterlandseweg underneath and head for the Kathedralenbos. The route does not go to De Groene Cathedral (follow 93 for this), but this extra loop is recommended. This landscape artwork of tall trees is definitely worth seeing. We go past the Kathedralenbos towards the residential area Vogelhorst in the beautiful Almere Hout. Many famous Dutchmen have found their home here. We continue our way along the golf course to the beautiful cable-stayed bridge that takes us in the direction of the houseboats on the Weteringkade. At the smaller bridge we turn left to Stadslandgoed De Kemphaan. To do this, drive towards the farm that can be seen on the left and turn right at this intersection. On your left you will come to Stadslandgoed De Kemphaan, where various nature organizations have united in the Stichting Stad en Natuur. You can come across the Eksternest, but also Kindervakantieland, Landgoedwinkel, the Stadsboer, Staatsbosbeheer or Stichting AAP. It is wonderful to go to the square at Restaurant De Kemphaan. From the terrace there is not only a beautiful view of the fountain, but also of the outdoor enclosure of the monkeys. The playful animals are clearly visible and can also be viewed from closer at certain times (see below). For the last part of the ride we go to Almere Haven, the oldest part of Almere. Here the greenery and the courtyards are striking, especially here nature is beautifully mature. We then cross several city canals on our way to the Havenkom for the end of the Landgoedroute.
