Description

The route is best driven from the Havenkom in the direction of the Sluis. This is because there is often a westerly wind in the Netherlands. And that is especially noticeable on the Gooimeerdijk. If the route is closed via this dike, then the wind is at your back and that makes cycling more enjoyable than the wind from the front. The VVV Infopunt in grand café Havenkom on the Sluiskade is the starting point of this route. If you do not bring a bicycle, you can rent one at the bicycle shop. It can be reached by walking between the turrets at the VVV Infopunt towards the HEMA. The shop is opposite. A little further on is the Kunstgracht, which is called Kerkgracht in everyday life. This can be nicely combined with a visit to a market on Friday or on another day with a visit to the restaurants and cafes in the Havenkom. Various artists are located on the Kunstgracht, for various artistic expressions. For example, Alosery is a well-known glass studio. Het Gezin is a colorful sculpture by Jan Snoeck on the Markt. Back to the route. The riding school is reached via the Sluis via the dike. Through the woods you drive through the north of Haven towards't Weerwater. The Kromsloot Park is next on the agenda. This beautiful nature reserve is managed by Staatsbosbeheer on behalf of the municipality. The area is nice to stop for a while. It is possible to enter this beautiful nature reserve via the wooden bridges at the two Blanchard bridges. The grass invites you for a nice picnic. Nature is then very close. There is a good chance that grazing sheep can be spotted. These four-legged friends live here with a purpose: to control the vicious hogweed. This weed can grow meters high and secretes a substance that makes people itchy. The hogweed on the sheep's menu does not have this effect on the animals. The sheep do not eradicate the hogweed, but they do keep the fast growers under control. After enjoying the natural beauty in the Kromslootpark, we set course for the Silver Beach. A little further on - under the Hollandse Brug - is the new Almere Poort district with the Almouder beach, which has various catering establishments such as Poort Dok, Voor Pampus and Sail Today. Those who do not feel like these extra kilometers can continue via the Gooimeerdijk to the Havenkom. At the catering in the Havenkom you have come to the right place for a snack and a drink. © This cycle route is offered to you by VVV Almere.
