Harlingen, Wons and Wijnaldum

Harlingen is located on the Wadden Sea and during this fun cycling route you will be able to follow the coastline for many kilometers. You will pass the Harlinger Strand, where the statue of the Stienen Man is located. The water of the Wadden Sea is shallow and relatively warm, creating a rich soil life of about 250 plant species and many animals. The areas in the sea that dry up are used as resting places by migratory birds. There are also two species of seals in the Wadden Sea that are protected; the common seal and the gray seal give birth there. In 2009, large parts of the sea were even placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
