Tour of Friese Wouden between Beetsterzwaag and Bakkeveen

From Camping & Cycling/Walking Terrace De Ikeleane you can take a beautiful bike ride through the Frisian Forests between Bakkeveen and Beetsterzwaag. First you drive through the Slotplaats estate, which was built in 1668. You will see huge centuries-old beech trees, and further west there is a nineteenth-century production forest. Further on you cycle along the Wijnjeterperschar, a heathland area. In the hamlet of Olterterp you can take a look at the St. Hippolytus Church from 1500. Just before Beetsterzwaag you pass the Lauswolt Estate, after which the route takes you through the Wallebosch and the Lippenhuisterheide. You drive on car-free roads through a number of villages to the Duurswouder heath. Finally, you cycle along the Bakkeveenster Duinen. At the Ikeleane you can relax for a while on a cozy terrace.
