Tour of Mandefjild: the Heide fan Allardseach

From Camping Ronostrand you can take a beautiful walk through the Mandefjild, a varied nature reserve with heathland, forest, pools, but also a sand drift. You will discover the Heide fan Allardseach, a barren heath area where special plant species grow such as the rare red cap heath. These species grow here due to the selective grazing of the Drenthe Heath Sheep. Sometimes teasing is also done on a small scale to preserve nature. Here you also walk through a typical Drenthe landscape of unspoilt green areas and plenty of space. You walk along the edge of the former mining colony America, which now consists of several beautiful farms. You will also pass the pond with a beach near the campsite, a nice place to enjoy a beautiful day in nature.
