E-bike route country estates and Fochteloërveen

First you drive to the Fochteloërveen: a nature reserve that consists of forest, heathland, fens and raised moors. Thanks to its isolated location on the border of Drenthe and Friesland, the area has preserved its authenticity. In Westerveld you will pass Huis te Westervelde, also known as Tonckensborg. The monumental mansion originally dates from 1630 and has been inhabited by the Tonckens family since 1742. On the wall of the house is a dangle clock dating from 1555 that was used to alert staff that it was time for dinner. In Assen you will see Buitenplaats De Lariks before you drive back to your starting point via the Asserbos.
