Bicycle route Bergen op Zoom and Brabantse Wal

In the countryside surrounding Bergen op Zoom, you will find an abundance of nature. You start this route at the edge of the Wouwse Plantage Estate. In the fifteenth century, peat was still extracted here; in the early sixteenth century, people began planting trees for timber production. This made this nature reserve the first production forest in the Netherlands. Nowadays, it is a delightful place to cycle past deciduous and coniferous trees. At the edge of Huijbergen, you can dismount for a delicious lunch at Brasserie de Wolf, after which the route takes you through the forests located on the Brabantse Wal: a steep ridge between Ossendrecht and Halsteren. Between junction 52 and 21, in Woensdrecht, you have a beautiful viewpoint overlooking this ridge. Finally, you cycle through the historic heart of Bergen op Zoom: pure enjoyment!
