Your route starts at Rijsterbosch, a B&B and pancake house with a beautiful terrace. It is located on the edge of the Rijsterbos, a deciduous forest of 172 hectares that was created as a coppice forest in the seventeenth century. A special archaeological find has been made in the forest: a stone box from the Funnel Beaker culture, from which the Drenthe dolmens also originate. Among the forests of the Gaasterland, shy deer feed on the fresh leaves of flowers, shrubs and plants. Badgers build their beautiful castles at the edge of the forests and between the hedgerows.
