Tour of Burgh-Haamstede, Vrouwenpolder and Kamperland

Beautiful views over the water near Schouwen-Duiveland offer a breathtaking view. You also explore Noord-Beveland: the former island is connected to the mainland by dams and a bridge. After a large storm surge, the first dikes were built in 1014 and mounds raised, but a century later the island was flooded. It was not until 1684 that all of Noord-Beveland was reclaimed. During the flood disaster (1953), what is known as'the miracle of Colijnsplaat\\\' took place: a dike breach was narrowly avoided here. You also visit the coastline of Walcheren and cycle around the mouth of the Veerse Meer, which was created by damming the Veerse Gat when the Delta Works were built. Make a stopover at Verscentrum Sandee in Kamperland before cycling back to your starting point!
