Description

Nijkerk is a nice town on the edge of the Gelderse Vallei. An ideal base for a cycling tour with plenty of sights.

Beautiful Nijkerk
You first cycle through Nijkerk. A small, but cozy town with a beautiful old center. Here you will see, among other things, the Grote Kerk from 1540, the tower dates from 1776. On the Zeedijk you will pass the monumental eighteenth-century lock house and the Arkersluis. On the right you look out over the Nijkerkernauw and Flevoland, on the left is Arkemheenpolder. This was already constructed in the fourteenth century, it is one of the oldest polders in the Netherlands.

Port of Spakenburg
Spakenburg is a former fishing village on the Zuiderzee. You cycle along the old harbor, which enjoys a protected village view. What a wonderful atmosphere! Cycling along the Eem you will see beautiful farms, vast meadows, rippling water and flowery dike edges. In Amersfoort you cycle through Stadspark Schothorst. The beech avenues clearly show that this city park was once an estate.
