The starting point is the Dorfgemeinschaftshaus in Neuhof, Am Kranichteich, 37441. This region is characterized by the nature reserves Priorteich Sachsenstein and the gypsum karst landscape Bad Sachsa/Walkenried.
From the parking lot you walk on a forest path along the lake, Untere kranichteig (route 9, orange), and then past 2 Karst steinbrüche to the"Kranichsteinhütte\\\" shelter (route 10, red) and from from there along the Pfaffenholz nature reserve, past the football field, to Tettenborn Colony.
Cross the railway viaduct and immediately turn right again until you can turn left past the village at a farm and then walk into the field with beautiful views of the Harz area and the Brocken. After the ascent, take the road"Brockenblickweg\\\" (route 7, green) until 100 meters past the shelter"Am Brockenblick\\\" the dirt road to the right and follow it over a railway crossing until you turn left from you see the first foothills of the village of Neuhof. Take a narrow path there (route 8, blue) and walk a small circle around the"Obere Kranichteich\\\". At the end you come out about 200 meters further than where you entered the path (route 8). Turn right there and continue your path on an asphalt road, past a historic plaster oven and all kinds of interesting facts about trees back to your parking lot.
