Experience the silence of the Biesbosch

It is wonderfully quiet in the Biesbosch. Ideal for a day of enjoying unspoilt nature. You also pass through villages such as Werkendam and Hank. In between you will pass two forts from the New Dutch Waterline.

Biesbosch Museum
From Brasserie De Selevia Hoeve you can drive to De Biesbosch in a short time. From the cycle path you have a beautiful view over the wetlands of reedlands, creeks and swamp forests. At the Biesbosch Museum you can learn more about the history and development of this freshwater area. On the left you look out over the Jantjesplaat. This former agricultural polder was transformed into a vast wetland in 2013. With a bit of luck you will see the osprey and white-tailed eagle that sometimes hunt here.

New Dutch Waterline
Just before junction 4 you pass the Wassende Maan. Climb the hill to discover this work of art and enjoy the peace and quiet. You can get a breath of fresh air while cycling along the Bandijk. You pass Fort Steurgat from 1881. On the left you look out on the Nieuwe Merwede. You pass the Vervoorne Molen, a polder mill from 1700. Further on is Fort Bakkerskil from 1880. After a look at the Zuid-Hollandse Molen you drive back to the Selevia Hoeve.
