Description

From here you cycle through the Walcheren National Landscape. The oldest parts of the landscape are the historic row of dunes, the creek ridges and pools formed by low, open basin areas. The vliedbergen, which were five to twelve meters high, were thrown up by people and are probably the remains of old motte-and-bailey castles or places of refuge. The Meliskerkse mill dates from 1801. The corn mill was built at the time to replace a standard mill, which blew over during a violent storm. In Middelburg, you can visit De Koning corn mill, built as a successor to a burned-down predecessor. The current round hull was placed on the substructure of the old mill. Take a moment to taste the atmosphere in the beautiful historic Middelburg!
