Description

Cycle through the Heemskerkerduinen along the coast, but also explore the best of the city during this cycling route. Heemskerk was already inhabited before the beginning of the era, which is why the city has many historical monuments. Castle Marquette was built around 1250, but then had another name: the House of Heemskerk. Get off in Heemskerk at LAURENTZ OUT&ETEN for a snack and a drink! Slot Assumburg, a castle that dates back to the thirteenth century. The castle has thin walls, it was mainly intended as a noble residence. The Fort near Veldhuis is a fortress of the Defense Line of Amsterdam, built in 1893. The fort had room for about 300 troops. The Fort on Sint-Aagtendijk belongs to the same position. The defenses were built around 1500.
