Description

Cycle through the Heemskerkerduinen along the coast, but also explore the best of the city during this cycle route. Heemskerk was inhabited before the beginning of the common era, which is why the city has many historical monuments. Marquette Castle was built around 1250, but had a different name at the time: the House of Heemskerk. Stop off in Heemskerk at LAURENTZ UIT&EATEN for a snack and a drink! Assumburg Castle, a castle dating from the thirteenth century. The castle has thin walls, it was mainly intended as a noble residence. The Fort at Veldhuis is a fort of the Defense Line of Amsterdam, built in 1893. The fort had room to accommodate approximately 300 troops. The Fort on Sint-Aagtendijk belongs to the same position. The defense work was built around 1500.
