Hoorn has a lot to offer for every cyclist: old elements from the city's history flow into modern buildings. Outside the built-up area, in the bulb fields you will be overwhelmed by a splendor of color that is unparalleled.
Great Mill
Once you have parked your car for free in the parking lot near Hoorn, you first cycle to the Groote Molen. You will see this ground sailor, built in 1603, after about ten kilometers. The fully restored mill has a beautiful thatched roof and is equipped with a Flemish vang, a braking construction that was not used very often. If you cycle further into the polder, you will pass vast fields of flower bulbs in the spring, a beautiful sight!

Historic Hoorn
You cycle back to your starting point along the shore of the IJsselmeer, via Hoorn: a city with a rich history. From 1356 onwards, the city could draw up and enforce legal rules itself and collect taxes. The port of Hoorn soon overtook all other ports in the area except that of Amsterdam.
