Bergen op Zoom and the Markiezaatsmeer

Your route starts at Hart van Tholen. First you cycle over the Oesterdam: at 10.5 kilometers it is the longest dam of the Delta Works. Here you have a beautiful view over the Oosterschelde and the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. You cross over to the Westerschelde, you can possibly climb the dike for a view over the water. Many large ships always pass here, a beautiful sight. Further on you can visit the visitor center De Kraaijenberg at the Markiezaatsmeer. You cycle back through Bergen op Zoom, a city with a rich history. Here you can see many beautiful old buildings, such as the fourteenth-century Gevangenpoort, the oldest building in the city. Then you cycle back to Tholen. This nice old fortified town is more than worth a visit!
