Description

The Hidden Village was a hiding place for people in hiding during the Second World War. Soon after leaving Camping de Tol you will pass this secret place in the middle of the woods around Vierhouten. During the Second World War, the village was inhabited by about eighty people in hiding. Among them were refugees from the camp in Amersfoort, Jews and fallen pilots. Godfried Bomans also sought accommodation here. In'44 the village was discovered by SS\\\' ers. Eight of the 86 people in hiding were shot. The others managed to escape. You leave this special place behind and cycle towards Elspeet. From the watchtower on the Stakenberg you have a great view of the surrounding area. Once back at the campsite, you can enjoy a cool drink on the cozy terrace.
