Your cycle route starts at Gasterij Natuurlijk Smeerling. From here you cycle through the Groningen landscape, enjoying the spaciousness. Then you arrive in Wedde at the Wedderborg. This borg is also called Huis te Wedde, because it is not really a borg or fortified house. The Huis te Wedde was used more as a defence structure. For centuries, the Lords of Westerwolde resided here. There are also two beautiful mills in Wedde. One of them is the Wedderveer, a smock mill built in 1938 that was used for sawing wood. The other mill in the village is the Weddermarke. This ground-sailer is a successor to the original Weddermarke, which burned down in 1898. You also pass Veldkamp\\\'s Meul\\\'n, a smock mill dating from 1855.
