There are several unique nature reserves on the Veluwe. One such gem is the Kootwijkerzand. The route also takes you through the woods, the Gelderse Vallei and Hoog-Buurlo.

After a while you drive along the edge of the Houtdorperveld, between the trees you have beautiful views over the heath. In Garderen you can see some beautiful old buildings and De Hoop, a flour mill from 1852.

Hoog-Buurlo
In the woods of Boeschoten you pass an authentic sheepfold, then you drive a bit through the Gelderse Vallei. Enjoy the wide landscape before cycling back into the woods. After a while you cross the Kootwijkerzand: an extensive sand drift that is partly covered with mosses and grasses. Hoog-Buurlo is a unique old settlement of two sheepfolds and two houses that are surrounded by stately beech avenues and fields with wild banks. An idyllic spot!

Our monumental farm't Molentje is located in a beautiful and royal spot just outside Garderen. Why royal you may think? This farm, built in 1864, was located on the old highway from Apeldoorn to Amersfoort and was used as an inn. Many passers-by preferred not to travel through the woods in the dark and spent the night here. So is King William III. With his entourage he made a royal stopover at't Molentje. Check our website for current opening times.

This windmill was built in 1852. The round brick tower mill originally ground with two pairs of grinding stones. One flock was used to grind grain for consumption and the other was used to grind cattle feed and dried oak bark.

The sheepfold of Boeschoten offers shelter to the sheep that graze the Veluwe during the day. The sheepfold has wooden parts and a thatched roof, which gives it an authentic atmosphere.

Hoog Buurlo

A sheepfold serves as a night and winter home for a flock of sheep. This sheepfold was renovated in 2008. For example, you can go here to see how the sheep are sheared in the spring.
